Gomji-Somji Temple in Balaghat

Visit Gomji-Somji temples in Balaghat which are too near to each other, and hardly these 10 kms far from distance. You can also visit the Jwaladevi temple (twin sister temples), that were located right over the area of Bharveli region. While the Navratri festival is celebrated grandly at this temple and had been dragging attention of thousands of devotees across the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Gangulpara Dam

This Gangulpara dam is a most popular dam, which just 13 kms from the Balaghat, and has been attracting people for its amazing size and shape, as well as creating attention of the visitors due to its great panoramic view. The dam is surrounded by the wonderful range of Satpura, and is covered by the thick green vegetation. Bajrang Ghat in Balaghat

Bajrang Ghat is one among the very popular ghats for adventure lovers, especially for the swimmers as well as for the athletes. Old Ram Mandir in Balaghat

The Old Ram Mandir is one of the center of attraction of many tourists, and is located at the center of the Balaghat district. From this place, people can visit many places like Kaliputli, which is just 1.2 kms from this temple. While, there is also a New Mandir dedicated to Lord Shri Ram, and this is situated at Hanuman Chowk with a distance of about 2.5 kms. You can move to vegetable market to buy the fruits and vegetables at Gujari, that is too close to the Lord Rama's Old Temple.


The Kanha National Park

Balaghat is among the most wonderful places of Madhya Pradesh, and the major part of the city is surrounded by the beautiful trees as well as vegetation from different sides. The park is famous with the name called ‘Mukki’. The Temple as well as fort (statues are of Khajuraho style), is even related with the Gond dynasty. Hatta Ki Baodi in Balaghat

This Baodi is constructed between 17th and 18th centuries by cutting and wrapping the large rocks through building the decorated pillars. This Baodi has ten pillars over the ground floor, under which, visitors can find the verandahs created for the light decorative rooms. There are two sculptures carved on the entrance door of the Baodi (4 armed Shiva as well as his wife Ambika who holds Sriphal). These are said to be of the 16th century. After the rule of the Haiheya rulers of Balaghat, Hatta moved from the Gonds to the Marathas and thereafter went under Bhonsles. Hence, the art and decors made to the pillars vary in their styles. This Baodi was constructed as a water source, as well as made for the soldiers for the purpose of protecting themselves from enemies, and also to take rest whenever they wish. The records say that, during the reign of Bhonsles, some of the armies of Samantas hide here.
